Rochford wines from the Macedon Ranges region

Rochford
Rochford is now based in the Yarra Valley (pictured) but started in the Macedon Ranges where it still has substantial vineyards (photo genxywines)

Helmut and Yvonne Konecsny's Rochford Wines combines the original home of Rochford in the Macedon Ranges with the extensive facilities and the location of the winery/cellar door in the Yarra Valley (through the acquisition of the former Eyton On Yarra complex).

Winemaker David Creed produces wines with fruit sourced from vineyards from both regions. The Macedon Ranges wines include most of the sparklings, Pinot Noir, Cabernet and Pinot Gris while the Yarra Valley contributes Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Chardonnay (plus a Yarra sparkling).

Rochford Wines property is a unique showpiece of the Yarra Valley incorporating an acclaimed restaurant, cellar door, "The Loft-Art Space" and conducts a regular summer concert series held in its beautiful outdoor amphitheatre by the lake. I saw Leonard Cohen performing here. The standard of the winemaking is admirable across most of the portfolio from both regions.
