The winery also features a restaurant (photo courtesy: Wild Dog)

The name comes from the nearby town Warragul, which is from an indigenous word meaning "wild" or "wild dog".

The 12 ha winery was established in 1982 by John (a former architect) and Helen Farrington.

The varieties include: Riesling (including an Ice Riesling), Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

In 2005 it was been acquired by Gary and Judy Surman who also run Parnassus. Folkert Janssen is the current winemaker.
