Heathcote II wines are made by Peder Rosdal, a French trained wine-maker, and Lionel Flutto who is more involved with the viticultural side.
As no irrigation is used, Lionel, has to deal with region's difficulties of heat stress while maintaining the balance and concentration of the wines.
Peter, brings his Burgundian techniques of gentle but effective colour and flavour extraction through hand-plunging the fermetenting juice twice a day.
The original vines went in about 1996. About 12 acres of the 80 acre property are devoted to wine with the bulk going to Shiraz but there are plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and since 2004 Tempranillo.
Their premium wines are the Myola (a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon with Shiraz) and the HD Shiraz.
There are three types of Tasting notes:
(W) Notes from the winery (blurbs from bottle)
(GXY) Notes from a GenXY wine reviewer
(G) Notes from GenXY's Tasting events (collective opinions)
