Croatian born, Bartul Soljan. established the first family vineyard in 1932. His son, Frank, established the Solans Winery in 1937.

In 2002 the third generation (Bartul’s grandson) Tony Soljan, established a state of the art complex at Kumeu in West Auckand.

The winery is surrounded by Pinotage, Pinot Gris and Merlot and draws on other regions for the rest of the portfolio (Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer.

The sparklings include a sparkling Muscat, and even more rarer, a sparkling Pinotage. There is also the ‘Tribute’, a special release blend of Hawke’s Bay Merlot and Malbec.
